The beauty of homeschool is that it does not need to mirror school in the traditional sense. It can be made to fit your family’s needs and lifestyle. Sometimes the very best lessons happen when you step outside of your home’s door. Wild Learning helps families to get outside and explore the world around them while also learning along the way.

“Wild Math reimagines math instruction for the natural outdoor environment. Fractions are modeled using mud pies, place value is introduced with bundles of sticks, multiplication is introduced by examining flower petals, and games replace worksheets.”

Tell Me About Wild Math…

Rachel Tidd is the author of the Wild Math® and Wild Reading™ Curriculums. She is a homeschool mom with a Master’s degree in Elementary and Special Education and a B.S. in Environmental Science. Rachel observed her sons growing and thriving in a school setting that cultivated the love of learning outdoors. So, she decided to share her ideas to help other families have similar experiences.

Wild Math is a year-long plan for students in Kindergarten to 5th grade. With this curriculum, learning engages all of the senses and should be as hands-on as possible.

On the website, Wild Math states that their curriculum does the following amazing things:

  • Covers all the typical skills in each grade
  • Uses natural materials as math manipulatives
  • Each unit contains math picture book and board game lists
  • Does not use traditional worksheets (although any inexpensive workbook can be added if desired). The use of games for math fact practice is encouraged.
  • Hands on learning activities, games, and projects.

Recommended Age/Grade: Kindergarten to 5th grade

Product Format: Digital

Special Notes: Wild Math can be used as a full curriculum or a supplement to another math program.
